Not all fats are created equal, and clarified butter is a safe choice when it comes to cooking. Due to its oxidation-resistant structure, it’s very stable at high temperatures and can be used in baking, stir-frying or frying. It’s super easy to make ghee at home, just be sure to use the best quality butter possible to enjoy all the health benefits.

Ghee is packed with fat-soluble vitamins, such as A, E, and K, it’s lactose and casein-free, relieves inflammation, improves digestion, promotes a healthy gut microbiome, strengthens the bones and encourages weight loss. The medium-chain fatty acids plus the conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) found in ghee can boost fat burning, decrease belly fat and help ramp up weight loss. As we always say, losing weight is more about making smart choices and becoming portion aware and less about fad, restrictive diets.

Homemade Ghee Recipe

Prep Time: 5 min  |  Cook Time: 15 min  |  Yields: 2 cups

Ingredients

+ 16 oz (450 g) unsalted, organic, grass-fed butter

Directions
Place the butter in a saucepan, heat over medium heat until melted and then reduce to a simmer. Cook for about 15 minutes until the melted butter is bright gold and then let cool. Once the milk residues settle at the bottom of the pan, pour through a wire mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth into glass jars. Store in the fridge for up to 6 months and use sparingly as a cooking oil. Enjoy!
